This is Bella at one day old on April 20, 2008 -
unlike most rodents, chinchillas are born fully furred and with their eyes open ready to play! They are endangered in the
wild. There are only 5,000 wild chinchillas left and they all live in the mountains of Chile. Half are protected on a reservation.
Go to the Meet the Animals page to see Bella full grown.

Sugar Gliders are from Australia. They are often confused
with being rodents due to the similarity to chipmunks or flying squirrels, however they are among the few species of marsupials.
They are born in a pouch. Sugar Gliders can glide up to 150' with their special skin flap under their arms called a patigium.
